Putterman Yu Wang LLP partners Constance J. Yu and George Chikovani helped present a Continuing Legal Education program on ethical and practical issues presented by the termination of the attorney-client relationship at the San Francisco Lawyers’ Club Inn of Court. George served as program leader and presented on the various mandatory and permissive grounds for withdrawal under the California Rules of Professional Responsibility, and changes to the Rules during the most recent revision in 2018. Connie discussed the obligations and restrictions on an attorney’s disclosure of the reasons for a withdrawal, and the significant differences between California and ABA rules on that subject. The other panelists in the program were Robert Bunzel of Bartko Zankel Bunzel & Miller; Gerald Mannion of Mannion Lowe & Oksenendler; Kathleen McCormick of McCormick and Associates; and Mindy Wong of Vedder Price.
